What is Hydrosil?
Hydrosil is a British skincare range developed for adults and children with dry, eczema-prone and chronically dry skin. Instead of steroids, it uses rich emollients and naturally sourced, plant-based ingredients chosen to moisturise, soothe and protect very dry, sensitive skin, without fragrance or unnecessary additives.
The range covers dry skin from head to toe: the rich Turmeric Butter & Donkey Milk Salve and the Dry Skin Gel with Cardiospermum for the face and body, the Dry Eye Gel and Dry Eye Concealer for the delicate skin around the eyes, the Hydrobrow Serum for dry, flaky brows, and the Scalp Shield range for dry, itchy scalps. At its heart are naturally sourced actives such as Cardiospermum, traditionally used to calm irritated-feeling skin, organic turmeric butter and nourishing donkey milk. Every Hydrosil product is steroid-free, dermatologically tested, vegetarian and made in Britain.

Why choose Hydrosil?
If you or your child struggles with dry, itchy, eczema-prone skin, harsh or heavily fragranced products can make it worse, and many people would rather not rely on steroids day to day. Hydrosil is built around rich emollients and naturally sourced actives that moisturise and soothe gently, so it is suitable for regular, long-term use, during a flare and between flares. Each product is steroid-free, fragrance-free and made specifically for very dry, sensitive skin.
How to use Hydrosil

Turmeric Butter & Donkey Milk Salve
(morning and evening)
Smooth a little onto any dry, flaky or sore patches elsewhere on the face, keeping well clear of the eyes. It is the richer balm in the range, best on skin that needs more comfort.
(morning and evening, plus any time for comfort)
Apply a small amount to the eyelids and the skin around the eyes to soothe itching and hydrate dry, tight skin. It goes on the skin, not in the eye.
(daytime, before make-up)
Smooth over the gel to cover and brighten the under-eye area while it keeps caring for the skin underneath.
+ Brows Hydrobrow Serum
(morning and evening, before brow make-up)
Stroke along the full length of the brows to soothe dry, flaky, itchy brows. You can wear it overnight too.

Turmeric Butter & Donkey Milk Salve
(morning and evening)
Smooth onto dry, sore or flaky patches anywhere on the body, such as hands, elbows, knees or behind the ears. It works best on skin that is still slightly damp after washing, so it can lock in moisture, and a little goes a long way.

(on wash days)
Wash as normal to cleanse the scalp and gently wash away flakes, leaving it feeling clean and comfortable.
(after washing, and between washes as needed)
After washing, work a little into the scalp while it is still damp to soothe and hydrate dry, itchy skin. Between washes, spritz on whenever the scalp feels dry or itchy.
Braids & Weaves
For scalps left dry, itchy and irritated by braids, weaves and other protective styles, Scalp Shield Tonic helps calm the itching and flaking and keeps the scalp feeling comfortable.
Hydrosil: frequently asked questions
1. What is Hydrosil, and who is it for?
Hydrosil is a naturally sourced, British-made skincare range for adults and children with dry, itchy and eczema-prone skin. Instead of steroids, it uses rich emollients and plant-based actives to moisturise and soothe very dry, sensitive skin, and it is designed for gentle, everyday use.
2. What makes Hydrosil different from ordinary dry-skin creams?
Hydrosil is steroid-free and built around naturally sourced actives such as Cardiospermum, turmeric butter and donkey milk, rather than harsh or heavily fragranced ingredients. It is designed for the kind of very dry, eczema-prone skin that needs gentle, repeatable, long-term care, during a flare and in between.
3. What are the key ingredients in Hydrosil?
The range is built around Cardiospermum, a plant extract traditionally used to calm irritated-feeling skin, organic turmeric butter, and nourishing donkey milk, alongside rich emollients such as shea butter and plant oils. Together they moisturise, soften and comfort dry, sensitive skin.
4. Is Hydrosil vegan?
Hydrosil is vegetarian and cruelty-free, rather than vegan, because the Turmeric Butter & Donkey Milk Salve contains donkey milk, chosen for how gentle and soothing it is on sensitive skin. It is free from parabens, perfume, SLS and MI.
5. Where is Hydrosil made?
Hydrosil is made in Britain and dermatologically tested for sensitive skin.
6. Can I use Hydrosil on my face, body and around my eyes?
Yes. The Salve and Dry Skin Gel are for the face and body, and there is a dedicated Dry Eye Gel for the delicate skin of the eyelids and around the eyes, which goes on the skin rather than in the eye. Use the right product for each area, and patch test first.
7. Can I use Hydrosil on my scalp and eyebrows?
Yes. The Scalp Shield range is made for dry, itchy, flaky scalps, and the Hydrobrow Serum is designed for dry, flaky brows. This is part of what makes Hydrosil different, as it covers the areas many dry-skin ranges leave out.
8. How often should I apply Hydrosil, and can I use it as often as I like?
Because it is steroid-free, Hydrosil is gentle enough to apply as often as your skin needs, and very dry, eczema-prone skin usually does best with little and often rather than one heavy application. Smooth the Salve into the driest areas whenever they feel tight or rough, and reapply through the day and before bed. The more consistently you use it, including between flare-ups, the more you tend to get from it.
9. Can babies and children use Hydrosil?
Many parents use Hydrosil on children's dry, eczema-prone skin. Because some formulas contain naturally derived oils such as sweet almond and wheat germ, please check the full ingredients and patch test first. For a baby, or for a child whose eczema is severe or spreading, speak to your GP or health visitor before starting anything new.
10. Does Hydrosil contain nuts or wheat?
Some Hydrosil products contain sweet almond oil and wheat germ oil, so they are not suitable for anyone with a nut or wheat allergy. Always check the full ingredients list and patch test before first use.
11. Can I use Hydrosil alongside a prescribed steroid or eczema treatment?
Many people use Hydrosil as their everyday emollient alongside treatment from their GP. If you are using a prescribed steroid cream, you can usually continue your emollient too, but check with your GP or pharmacist about how and when to layer them, and never stop a prescribed treatment without advice.
12. Is Hydrosil suitable for sensitive skin or other skin conditions?
Hydrosil is gentle and fragrance-free, so it suits many types of very dry, sensitive skin. It is formulated specifically for dry and eczema-prone skin, though. If your main concern is redness or rosacea, our KALME range is designed for that, and for scaly, psoriasis-prone skin there is PSOregon. As always, patch test before first use.
13. Can I use Hydrosil during pregnancy or while breastfeeding?
Hydrosil is gentle, fragrance-free and made for sensitive skin, and many people use it at this time. As sensitivities can change during pregnancy and breastfeeding, it is sensible to check the ingredients and, if you are unsure, speak to your midwife, GP or pharmacist first. Patch test before first use.
14. The Salve feels rich or greasy. Is that normal, and how much should I use?
Yes, that is normal. The Turmeric Butter & Donkey Milk Salve is a rich, oil-and-butter balm, which is what makes it so nourishing on very dry skin. A little goes a long way, so start with a small amount, warm it between your fingers, and smooth it into the driest patches, giving it a moment to absorb.
